Swimming pools were great. The kids clubs activities were varied and the staff working there were incredible with kids. The buffet food options were delicious, offering lots of different types of cuisines. The pool bar food and drinks during the day were freshening and yummy and we honestly loved every day there. The rooms are amazing, light switches for everything, huge but practically designed bathrooms - it was very luxurious to be there.
There were some staff members who made it extra special: B and Chandani in Kids Club, Rankin(?) older gentleman at the pool, Sanduni, Sandeep in the kitchen.

Weligama, with its enchanting coastal charm, offers an array of memorable spots that can become instant favorites for any visitor. Among these, the picturesque Weligama Bay stands out, renowned for its gentle surf and panoramic views, making it an idyllic spot for both surfers and those looking to soak in the serene beach atmosphere. Another favorite is the iconic Taprobane Island, accessible at low tide, offering a unique glimpse into a secluded and luxurious retreat with its lush tropical gardens and historical mansion.
Dining in Weligama is a delightful experience, with a plethora of options ranging from local street food stalls serving delectable seafood and traditional Sri Lankan fare, to more upscale dining experiences by the beach, where you can enjoy fresh, grilled seafood while watching the sunset. The Roti Shop, a quaint local eatery, is particularly notable for its mouthwatering selection of rotis filled with an array of flavors, providing a taste of local cuisine that's both authentic and affordable.
Getting around Weligama is relatively straightforward, thanks to its compact nature and the availability of various transport options. Tuk-tuks are ubiquitous and offer a convenient and economical way to explore the town and its surroundings. For those looking to cover longer distances or explore at their own pace, renting a scooter or a bicycle can be an excellent choice, providing the freedom to discover hidden gems along the coast.
On a subsequent visit to Weligama, one might consider avoiding the more crowded, commercialized spots during peak tourist season, to preserve the tranquil experience that Weligama is known for. Additionally, being cautious about engaging with overly persistent vendors or unofficial tour guides can help avoid any uncomfortable situations, ensuring a more enjoyable and authentic experience of this beautiful coastal town.

Relaxing beach for surfing, beach walks, beach games & family time together.
Safe beach area & you get lots of nice cafes and restaurants to try out with a good range of food & drinks with music to enjoy. We really enjoyed Ceylon Sliders as our brunch spot & Cheeky monkey for dinner with some super cool music. Kurumba bay is super cool too for a range of food choices.

You go to Weligama to learn surfing, or otherwise use the beach.
Otherwise the place is maybe a bit too chaotic, dirty, and loud for European travellers ;)
There is garbage collection, but still a lot of garbage is lying around and ending up in the sea.

Weligama is small town.
Weligama is small town. We lived little outskirts in rural area, Weligama is cheaper than other distinations such as Mirissa nearby. However if one needs to party and need restaurants then you cannot find many at Weligama.
We were looking for quiet, relaxed and comparitively cheaper 15 days break between our two months vacation and Weligama helped us with same. Mirissa beach is more better and lively than Weligama Beach. However small section of beach near Cape Weligama resort via Kumbalgama junction is quiet and peaceful.
Having your own or rented vehicle is definitely plus point or else one has to hire Tuktuk to Mirissa which may cost 1000-1400 LKR To and Fro dependinging on your bargaining skills.
Once can definitely go to both mirissa, unwatuna and galle from Weligama on day excursions.

Weligama beach itself is very crowded and not very clean; however, there are amazing and practically empty beaches just a few minutes away. Options for restaurants like almost everywhere is a hit and miss, but I did find amazing and varied options for very good prices.
Everything was beyond my expectations; the staff, the facilities, and the location. The staff Lashitha was the most hospitable, kindest person I met in Sri Lanka. He taught me many things about the country and was eager to help in every possible way. The breakfast was big and high-quality, the room was very spacious and clean. The location is perfect as well. It's close to the beach, a big supermarket and a few local eateries are nearby. I had stayed at another hotel before Mzion, and this hotel changed my experience in Weligama.
the villa is in a great location close to the beach and weligama centre. There is a kitchen with fridge and basic cooking facilities. the bathroom has lovely hot showers.
all the windows have fly screens and mosquito proof.
the villa has fans and is cool and not requiring air conditioning.
The villa is located in a quiet alleyway a few metres between the beach and matara road. it is also close to some great restaurants that serve sri lankan and western meals.
The owner is a lovely honourable and helpful man of great integrity.
Smack in the middle of Weligama, with key landmarks a short walk or tuktuk ride away.
CS is a minor local landmark popular with tourists and amateur surfing crowd for its location, cafe and general vibe.
Just don’t expect an X-star hotel (the same applies to most places in Sri Lanka, no matter how high the rating is).
It’s clean, it’s bright, there’s a shower and an A/C, the location is great, the view is great, the staff is great - that’s what you’ll get and that’s more than enough.
Right on the quiet side of Weligama beach! The view was wonderful, the beach was quiet and serene. The manager of the hotel was very helpful, when I told him I had some business meetings he brought me a wifi extender for my room so I had perfect connectivity. The massage I got on the first night was heavenly! Maybe because I could hear the waves from the open air massage room. Whatever it was, I loved it! My room was quite large, very clean, great view from the balcony.
The size of the hotel is good and the view from the balcony is scenic. Rooms are maintained and clean.
There is a small restaurant area offering a selection of food and drinks.
Lounge area on the top floor very pleasant.
Staff was amazing and helpful whenever needed (always giving some recommendations)
Quiet area and not far from Weligama bay.
Tuk-Tuk to Weligama bay : 500 lkr
Tuk-Tuk to Mirissa : 1000 lkr.
Location is perfect in a calm sideroad to walk around in Weligama. Weligama is a good point to start your experience in Sri Lanka.
House and rooms are lovely decorated.
The kitchen can be used if needed.
The hosts are always available, very kind and help you with everything you need. And speak English well.
It was a wonderful stay and will definitely come back.
Docrid is amazing place to meet lovely people in Weligama and enjoy chilled atmosphere. I call it hostel-homestay, because thanks to effort of Rezi, you will experience local food, culture and just feel like home😁. Add to it comfortable beds, nice little garden and homemade sri lankan breakfast and you will not want to leave ever, hihi. Thank you!🤗
The Treehouse is an incredible stay with the most wonderful people you could meet in a land of wonderful people. It's so unique. The family waited up for me and made me an amazing dinner, free of charge. Sat and spoke with me, shared their lives and their home. It was a beautiful experience and in 3 weeks of 5 star hotels, this was better hands down.
Amazing hotel with the best breakfast, pool and atmosphere we‘ve had in Sri Lanka. The whole place as well as the villas are unique and beautifully furnished. The food is great and fairly priced. The staff was so friendly and attentive during our stay. We can definitely recommend but it‘s a little expensive in comparison to similar hotels.
My family absolutely loved our stay at this hotel. The staff went over and beyond our expectations. They catered to our every need. The tailored our meals, and made sure we were always happy. They even set up a dinner on the beach for us to celebrate Christmas Eve. We would definitely visit this property again in the future!
We had an absolute wonderful stay at Weligama Ocean Breeze. what sets this location apart from many of the other locations we started at was the AWESOME staff that exceeded all expectations, always with a smile. The pool was a added bonus! Be sure to see us again on our next visit to Sri Lanka
The Best hotel during our stay in Sri Lanka (by the way, there were 8 hotels). It has modern and stylish design, incredibly delicious breakfast, a beautiful beach within a walking distance. I am extremely grateful to the staff for their help, care and kindness
Perfact!! Hotel manager, Lakmal, and the rest of the team, were doing everything and beyond to make our staying pleasant, and to for us to enjoy our vacation. Small hotel with a "one on one" service. Would definitely go back on our next trip to Sri lanka!
the hotel was right on the beach and surrounded by a bunch of surf schools which was awesome. the staff was so kind and helpful especially the young lady at the front desk and the young lady managing the breakfast service!
Nice location beach front hotel. Friendly staff. Nice swimmingpool area and room with balcony and ocean view. Clean and quiet. Loved sleeping with the balcony windows open and the sea breeze and the sound of the ocean.
We were out of season and the hotel was almost empty. The room was beautiful and comfortable. Hot water in the shower with great stream. Everything was clean abd stuff were very friendly and helpful.
I loved the amazing pool, the chilled atmosphere because it Is just a small hotel, the amazing Sri Lankan breakfast (which was a lot food) and of course the heart-warming staff!
Very nice, comfortable hotel close to the beach. The restaurant offers amazing food and drinks with a great view of the beach. Rooms were clean and cozy.
