The location is perfect and ideally located close to the glacier, easy access and yet secluded. Clean, functionable and well thought out layout. Owner is very responsive. We enjoyed the use of the terrace and the large windows to watch sunset and spot the northern lights from. Would definitely stay here again.

Stayed in the studio, was an amazing stay, really easy to check in, views from the studio were outstanding, take food with you and enjoy the facilities. Comfy bed and warm showers. Best tap water ever.

stunning, make sure you walk all the way down the trail, there are two other gorgeous waterfalls that a lot of people missed by not going all the way to end end of the trail (which is only a few hundred meters long).

This is an amazing place to hike and see some glorious views - especially on a clear day - which can be a bit tricky. We were extremely fortunate to have some of the the sunniest days recorded. Could not ask for a more comfortable hike. There are glacier hikes that you can pay for but honestly parking at the Park and hiking up yourself is something you will not soon forget. Not too laborious, but you defintely feel like you are exercising. Loved every minute of this hike and I wish I could have stayed longer.

Sadly we only had a day in Skaftafell and I wish we had more time to explore the national park. What we did see was stunning. Nature, hikes, glaciers and ocean all within a stones throw of each other. Well worth a longer visit than just to pass through.

Tremendous family run generational local property.
Tremendous family run generational local property. Gorgeous setting and very close to National Park. Great path in rear of property leading to amazing glacier views and outlet lagoon. Lovely dinner and dessert! Friendly, warm staff. Great relaxing indoor bar and outdoor patio with stunning glacier views. Thank you, Hotel Skaftafell!!!
The hotel is very close to one of the main glaciers in Iceland, so it is a great option, if not the only one, if doing some tours around.
The facilities were great. The room had a good size and the bathroom was clean.
Continental breakfast included in the room rate. Probably, it was the best I had during my stay in Iceland.
The staff is just outstanding.
There is a smaller galcier at the back of the hotel, with several trails to explore the area.
A restaurant, gas station and its shop across the road.
The Hotel is located in a great area, you can see the Skaftafell glacier from your room and get to a beutifull lake within a short walk. The Staff was lovely and supper helpfull, room was of a regular size, enough space for what we needed but very clean. We stayed for 2 nights and had an amazong experience. Ther bar has a great view to the Glacier as well. I'll highly recomended
It’s the only place near the entrance of the National park, but other reviews said it wasn’t that good….but I was VERY happy there. REALLY great hike right behind the hotel (to a glacier) and super nice staff and happy hour and nice lobby and totally acceptable rooms. Not luxury but totally nice and clean and good.
The other review was wrong.
The property is conveniently located within 5 minutes of the Skaftafell base camp for hiking and glacier tours. The staff was very friendly and we were pleasantly surprised to learn of a relatively easy private trail to one of the glacier tongues. Our stay included continental breakfast which was a wide assortment of items.
Very good breakfast.
Clean and comfortable room.
Really friendly staff who recommended us to take a 20-30 min walk behind the hotel to the nearby glacier (it says private property but it's OK for guests to walk in), which took us to very pretty viewpoints.
Beautiful location with a great view from the bar.
We stayed in the annex behind the hotel. The room was comfortable, and we appreciated having a water boiler. Good black out curtains and easy access to a great trail right behind us. Really nice breakfast spread. can’t beat the location for being near the main park and glaciers.
The food in the hotel restaurant was excellent and far exceed the expectations I had of a 3* property.
The property was a convenient place to stop on a drive from Reykjavik to Hofn and the location was also excellent for the stunning Fagurholsmyri Glacier.
We really appreciated how helpful Pablo was - he checked us in, gave us recommendations for a glacier tour, and was overall super friendly. Dinner and buffet breakfast in the hotel were both delicious. Was a great place to stop during our ring road trip.
Beautiful short trail to Skaftafell Glacier right at its backyard!
Very charming and endearing hotel.
Very clean and thoughtfully organised room and amenities.
Opposite to a restaurant, petrol kiosks and groceries.
Very good breakfast spread.
Perfect location and views. My absolute favorite trail walk is behind the hotel which takes you straight to Svinafelljokull —a MUST if you are in south Iceland. Plus great restaurant and fresh cuisine (breakfast and dinner) Takk!!
Medium-sized, family-run hotel. Friendly staff. Pleasant, clean, functionally furnished rooms. Average breakfast. There is not much accomodation choice in Skaftafell if you want to make a glacier tour from there.
cozy family owned hotel. the rooms are exactly how they appear online. at the back of the hotel there’s a trail that leads to a small lake and mountains- we enjoyed that. breakfast had the most amazing croissants!
The hotel has a lovely view of the glaciers and was a 4 minute drive to the entrance of the national park. Good breakfast, which is included, and dinner was exceptional.
Excellent location!
Room was small, but clean.
Took a stroll behind the hotel to see the glacier, which as receded quite a bit, but the walk was still very scenic.
