We followed Rick Steves’ recommendation to hike early and we are so glad we did! Even though we visited early April so it wasn’t too warm, it would have been less pleasurable later in the day not to mention the line of crowds waiting to get in as we exited would have made our climb less fun, I think, navigating through multiple hikers. With the early hike there was hardly anyone on the trail!

And a bonus in the mornings with sunny views over the town towards the cathedral and La Rocca. The apartment was immaculate and had everything we needed. Good host too. Perfect!

It is a really short walk away from all the amenities and the beach. The accommodation is even better than the photos, really spacious with doors from both the bedrooms and kitchen opening onto the huge terrace, that has views of the cathedral and la rocca mountain. There is an elevator at the hotel which makes life so easy! It’s a stones throw from the sea front in the old town. All the main attractions are within an easy walk. La Giara has fabulous evening rooftop bar with amazing views of the cathedral and La Rocca. Apartment was very spacious and well equipped (kitchen, coffee machine, washing machine, hair dryer, washing line etc..). Owner met us at check-in and was really friendly and explained everything. A lovely touch was that we were recommended places to visit, restaurants, and best times to avoid crowds. The balcony was the main event and we enjoyed it during our meals and in the evenings. We had fabulous stay and would highly recommend.
