Red Cedars Motel is a 2-minute walk from the Exhibition Park and a 10-minute walk from Watson Shopping Centre. It offers barbecue facilities and free on-site parking.

Motel Red Cedars is a 5-minute drive from Dickson Shopping Centre and 7 km from central Canberra. It is 2.5 km from Canberra Racecourse and Canberra Visitors’ Centre. Questacon is 9.5 km away.

The reception staff were really lovely to deal with. My hotel room was presented to a very high standard. There was everything one could ask for, including a TV, iron and ironing board, a microwave, cutlery, a table and chairs, an outdoor area with a little garden. The air conditioning worked well, as it needed to! The hotel is located in the northern ACT suburb of Watson, not far from the Federation Highway, but far enough away that the room was really quiet. While I was in Canberra I went to the National Portrait Gallery, which is easy to get to from the Hotel. There is a collection of photographs of indigenous people, including the recently deceased Archie Roach. The funniest portrait is the woman in the leather jacket with her fingers pointing to her ears. This portrait is ironically called The Vegan In The Leather Jacket. Also there is an excellent portrait of Senator Patrick Dodson. (Permission was given to take pictures). I strongly recommend a trip up to Mount Ainslie both during the day and at night, where you receive a magnificent view of Canberra.

Looking for a motel?

Both travellers on the road and on a budget rely on motels for convenient stops with reasonable rates. Direct access to parking makes a motel an easy place to catch some sleep after a day of driving. The beautiful view over the lake that we asked for and got was beautiful. This resulted in a high "Very Good" rating. If our motel room had been spotless, it would have received a perfect score. I didn't like looking in the mirror and seeing clipped fingernails.

The room itself was quite nice and comfortable. The room fittings were nice. The Tv's were actually of a good and visible size from the lounges which is very rare for any hotel or motel I have been to.

Perfect location, great price and only a 10 min drive to all the tourists spots. Free parking definitely a plus! 😊 Staff were so friendly and fantastic with children. My little boys day was made each morning from the lovely girls at the front desk chatting to him about our plans for the day. Even more welcoming when we got back each afternoon with a lovely smile and question about our day. He absolutely loved it. Will definitely be back again soon!

I did not have breakfast in the restaurant so I cannot comment on that aspect. I liked that the motel offer free parking; much appreciated.

Convenient location to where we needed to be. They supplied civilised smoking areas, which is rare in motels nowadays. Ample and free parking was a bonus in Canberra.

It was a clean and spacious room and great for a one night stay. It's very close proximity to eateries, good coffee, the reptile zoo, Dino museum, Cockington gardens and more. Location was great. It was as we expected from a motel style accomodation. The bathrooms were lovely and modern.
